Our Legacy
Formerly known as Whispering Oaks Campground, Woodland Hills Camping & Recreation has been around for over 30 years. Many people knew this campground as a Bluegrass Festival grounds and we continue to hear the stories about how popular the festivals were here. Our family purchased the campground in 2018 and we have worked tirelessly to try and provide the best RV camping experience we can for our visitors. We are a small campground with only 28 total RV campsites which are all full-hookup. Our number one priority is safety and security which we provide by education to our visitors and security cameras in key areas so we know who is entering and leaving our campground. We cater to long-term campers who are traveling and working in the area, we also have many seasonal visitors who come and stay with us frequently to enjoy the peacefulness of our campground.
Our Location
Nestled in the woods just 5 miles from I74 exit 54 (Lewistown Exit) Woodland Hills Camping & Recreation is close to laundry facilities, food, gas, and shopping. We are far enough away to "get away from it all", yet close enough to find whatever you need. Our address is 1180 Knox Road 1000 N, Gilson, IL. 61436.
Our Amenities
At Woodland Hills Camping & Recreation, we believe that camping should be a comfortable and enjoyable experience. That's why we offer a range of amenities for our guests, including; large wooded sites with concrete patio, fire rings, and picnic tables, 50 amp electric, hydrant, septic, superior WiFi, clean restrooms, hot showers, and firewood-provided. Our 22 acres provide an abundance of wildlife to observe, woods to walk around in and enjoy, and a fully stocked fishing lake.
